Bangalore Queer Film Festival - till Sunday 1st

In 2015, from February 27th to March 1st the Bangalore Queer Film Festival (BQFF) will enter it’s seventh year. BQFF is an annual event full of queer films from the world over, photo exhibitions, art exhibitions, performances and panel discussions.
Over the years, BQFF has become an entrenched part of the cultural landscape of Bangalore. The festival serves as a space for LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender) concerns to be voiced through the medium of moving image. At BQFF, we are firmly interested in both straightforward LGBT films and wildly queer and radical films.

Textiles, weaving and trade in south India – from the medieval period till today - Saturday 7th
INTACH Bengaluru announces a one-day workshop on ‘Textiles, weaving and trade in south India – from the medieval period till today.’ If you want to know more about trade, textiles in trade, different techniques of weaving, and how designs were and are made, this workshop is for you! You will learn about all of this and about how some of them are being revived today. You can even try your hand at making some designs!
The workshop includes an introduction to trade and textiles through history; an activity-session where participants will learn how designs were made using natural materials, such as, for example, how vegetables like bendekayi (ladies' fingers) were used as binders; and a field trip to a weaver’s resource centre where we will learn how looms work, how they looked a few hundred years ago, the different types of weaving and also a little about different types of dyeing. Participants are encouraged to bring along old pieces of cloth to the workshop so they can try their hand at making designs during the morning’s activity session!
The workshop will be led by Dr Radhika Seshan, a professor of History at the University of Pune. Dr Seshan has researched and written extensively on trade and politics in the medieval period, on gender and on several other areas in history.
The cost of this one day workshop will be Rs.1000 per person. Advance payment and registration is required. If you would like to register, please email us at intach.blr@gmail.com.

DASO and DJ Pawas, Indian-German experts on electronic dance floor music, conduct a workshop to share their years of music experience, as well as interesting facts about the Intelligent Dance Music (IDM) scene in Germany.
Born in Poona, India, DASO moved to Cologne, epicenter of electric music, when he was 24 years old. With his roof-hitting debuts “Daybreak” and “Meine”, he quickly established himself in the international dance music scene. DASO continued his successful collaborations with various cutting-edge producers such as Oliver Koletzki’s label Stil vor Talent in Berlin. However, DASO reveals his true talent live at the club: his set is an ecstatic journey from house over rave up to stony techno. Don’t miss this Dandy’s performance – let’s sweat classy style!
In the electronica circuit, DJ and producer Pawas Gupta, needs no introduction. Pawas works in that space where melodies, musicianship and atmospheric sounds fuse to create intelligent house. His music resonates his journey back from his early days as a DJ in India to turning independent producer in Germany. From his classical roots in tabla and percussion to his deep, Detroit influence in deeper house, techno and minimal, Pawas has carved his niche.
