Shashank Jayaprassad - Friday 26th @ 19.00
Shashank Jayaprasad talks about photography and his tail wagging muse—dogs! He will also take us on a journey through photographs from across India;talk about his experiments with the digital, film and polaroid mediums, as he captures stories from the forests of Masinagudi to the streets of our big cities.
Showcasing a range of digital, film and polaroid photographs—some processed in a darkroom with film and chemicals and many shot in the forests of Masinagudi—will lead us through a journey across the country. The impulse for Shashank’s photography is rooted in the ability of the medium to interact non-verbally with the subjects, whether people on the street or dogs. He willtalk about the ability of the medium to help people overcome their inhibitions and realise their potential.

Two sides of the same coin
Post-performance Interaction with the authors and directors of both plays
06.06.2015, 5.00 p.m. in the foyer
We are proud to present in Bangalore the outcome of a unique collaboration between Germany’s most performed playwright Lutz Hübner and reputed Indian dramatists Srirang Godbole and Vibhawari Deshpande. The so-called Author Project, supported by the Goethe-Institut / Max Mueller Bhavan Pune is a novel concept where both Indian and German writers worked on developing a “common script”, through interactions and improvisations with artists in Germany and India.
The theme is universal. The story is woven around the relationship between two youngsters – German exchange student Boris and the daughter of his Indian host family, Radha. After some initial disinclination, they become close friends and fall in love. However, Radha’s family is neither excited nor happy about the relationship. The narrative focuses on rejection and mutual understanding, the dichotomy of traditions and advancements towards an uncertain future. ‘Globalisation needs such relationships, as well as acceptance towards being different and the audacity to try something new’. This is the implicit message.
The GRIPS connection
In Bangalore, GRIPS has inspired several productions including Gumma Banda Gumma and Gagrayyana Friendsu. Both plays ran for more than 75 shows with about 150 children attending each show, filling every row of the auditorium. Not to forget the big success of the two productions being staged in Mumbai as well as taking part in Prithvi Children's theatre festival.
