Silicon Plateau | Volume Two - Friday 7th @ 19.00
About the book
Silicon Plateau is an art project and publishing series that explores the intersection of technology, culture and society in the Indian city of Bangalore. Each volume of the series is a themed repository for research, artworks, essays and interviews that observe the ways technology permeates the urban environment and the lives of its inhabitants. The project is an attempt at creating collaborative research into art and technology, beginning by inviting an interdisciplinary group of contributors (from artists, to designers, researchers and entrepreneurs) to participate in the making of each volume.
For Silicon Plateau Volume 2, the sixteen book contributors responded to a main question: what does it mean to be an app user today—as a worker, a client, or simply an observer? The result is a collection of stories about contemporary life in Bangalore, of conversations spoken and typed, of deliberations on how we behave, what we sense, and what we might think about when we use the gamut of services offered to us on demand, through a simple a tap on our mobile devices.

Bosque Magico - Thursday 30th @ 18.30
Two languages and 2000 kilometres separate their cultures. But this distance melts away in the face of Bosque Magico's musical level. We are happy to host a concert featuring our partner and one of Bangalore's well-known musicians Karthik Mani AND German guitarist Ralf Siedhoff, along with Mykyta Sierov.
Bosque Magico lineup:
Ralf Siedhoff (Germany): Guitar
Karthik Mani (India): Percussion
Mykyta Sierov (Ukraine): Oboe
The music of Bosque Magico, composed by Ralf Siedhoff, is inspired by flamenco, jazz, world and classical music. Mykyta Sierov's oboe, centred around melody and improvisation, appears atypical in this non-classical context. Improvisations in classical, Indian, Balkan and pop music-inspired compositions are novel for this instrument and open up a relatively unknown sound universe. The guitar voice, provided by Ralf Siedhoff, has orchestral elements with bass, harmony and rhythmic function. And the inclusion of the marvellous percussion by Karthik Mani adds a special piquancy.

Paris, Texas | Wim Wenders - Wednesday 22nd @ 17.00 at NGMA
This unusual road movie tells the tale of Travis, a man lost in his own private hell. Presumed dead for four years, he reappears from the desert on the Mexico border, world weary and an amnesiac. Paris, Texas is probably Wim Wenders' best known movie, winning a number of international prizes including The Cannes Palme D'Or for Best Film in 1984.
Alice in the Cities I Wim Wenders - Tuesday 21st @ 17.00 at the NGMA
Phillip is a roving German reporter who, after a chance encounter with an elusive American woman, reluctantly accepts temporary custody of little Alice. Their friendship grows while travelling through various European cities on a search for the girl's grandmother. Inventive and witty, Wenders reflects on the influences of American pop culture on postwar Europe. Accepted to be one of Wenders' most poignant films Alice in the Cities subsequently won the 1974 German Critics Prize.
