The Indo-German Urban Mela


It’s not too late – put on your thinking caps and spin out a wild idea on the topic: City Spaces! The stage is yours – for 10 whole minutes at the Youth Science Slam at the Indo-German Urban Mela and you could win a trip to Berlin! Send in your entry before June 20, 2012.

Palace Grounds next to the Bangalore Palace will shortly host 16 specially designed pavilions that will come to life with interactive presentations exploring how we can improve life within our cities. The Indo-German Urban Mela, June 22 to July 1, 2012, lies at the core of the year of ''Germany and India 2011-2012: Infinite Opportunities'', which celebrates 60 years of Indo-German diplomatic ties.

An exclusive concept at the Urban Mela in Bangalore is the Youth University which is designed for ambitious talented youngsters. One of the Youth University events is the Youth Science Slam. Budding Bangalore Scientists get 10 minutes on stage to present a scientific concept in
an entertaining and exciting way! Participants are free to choose any topic that fits into "City Spaces", the theme of the Year of Germany and India 2011-2012: Infinite Opportunities... such as traffic, population, climate change, urban spaces, etc.
The winners will get exciting prizes - among others  - a trip to Germany for a two-week internship at the prestigious Fraunhofer Institute in Berlin and a free German language course at the Goethe-Institut/Max Mueller Bhavan Bangalore.

The Science Slam is open to scientific minds between 15 and 24 years. Apply with a short text on the selected topic + indication of age to:
Jury-selected entries will take the stage at the Urban Mela.
