Indian Heavy Metal at Wacken Open Air Vol. 3 | Kryptos & Friends - Saturday 25th @ 18.00

The Mecca of Metal comes to India's Metal City! Bangalore's own Kryptos takes the stage in the third of a series featuring Indian Metal Bands at Wacken Open Air.

GoetheBangalore - Headbangalore to Indian metalheads - is the centre of heavy metal in India, but not for so many years. In contrast, the German Metal Scene is well established. Wacken Open Air Festival boasts of over 80,000 visitors and the tickets are sold out a year in advance! Every year the Wacken Metal Battle takes place in 30 different countries and the winner wings to Germany for the final Battle at Wacken Open Air Festival.

Four Indian bands have made it to Wacken so far - two from Namma Bengaluru. We will stage all four acts in this concert series, starting with Devoid, Zygnema and now Kryptos. Celebrating 15 rocking years, the Kryptos gig will also feature Vehrnon Ibrahim (Millennium), Sujay Harthi (Bhoomi), Vikram Bhat (Dying Embrace) and Bharad Ravi (Witchgoat). Theorized will open for Kryptos & Friends.

KryptosKryptos was formed in 1998 and is considered one of the leading heavy metal bands to emerge from India. Since their creation they have released three albums, all of which are considered cult classics in the Indian Metal underground. With influences ranging from Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath and Candlemass to Mercyful Fate, Kreator and Coroner, Kryptos channels the spirit of these 80’s metal masters to create a sound that still manages to sound as fresh and vital as it did back in metal’s golden years. After signing with OSM Records from California in 2007, Kryptos went on to open for some of the biggest bands in metal like the mighty Iron Maiden, Dark Tranquillity, Kreator, Testament, Amon Amarth, Satyricon and many more.

KryptosIn 2010 Kryptos became the first metal band from India to do a cross country tour of Europe. The third album, ‘The Coils of Apollyon’ was released worldwide in September 2012 and received rave reviews from all over the planet, featuring in many ‘Album of the Month’ lists and still continues to gather praise from all quarters since its release. In July 2013 Kryptos once again made their way to Europe to play at the In Flammen Open Air festival for the second time followed by an appearance at the Ragnarock Open Air Festival and culminating with a fiery performance at the biggest heavy metal festival on the planet, Wacken Open Air, which proved to be one of the biggest milestones in the band’s existence so far
