Somberikatte Artist Talks | Atul Bhalla - Thursday 6th @ 20.30

Atul Bhalla was born in 1964 in New Delhi. He finished his BA in Fine Arts in College of Arts Delhi University and went for his Masters to School of Art, Northern Illinois University, USA.

He frequently combines photography, installation, sculpture, video and performance to question the human relationship with the natural and constructed environment. Bhalla’s prolific and diverse activity is not limited to the creation of artwork. His work often invites audiences to engage directly with otherwise overlooked elements of urban and metropolitan spaces, in particular water courses in his home town, New Delhi, and those he visits during the course of international exhibitions and residencies. One of India's leading artists, he exhibits widely in India and internationally.

The artist lives in Delhi and teaches at the School of Art, Design and Performance, Shiv Nadar University, UP

*1Shanthiroad: The Studio/Gallery at 1.Shanthi Road, Bangalore, is an independent artist run space for art residencies, slide lectures, small conferences, exhibitions, performances, screenings and informal gatherings.
