Crossing the Jungle | Saskia Groneberg & Bettina Lockemann - Saturday 28th @ 19.30

Two bangaloREsidents. Two German photographers. Two journeys of discovery. Two differing takes on the City: “Garden City” and “Commuter Space”. Brought together on a single platform: “Crossing the Jungle.” Join us for the final showing of Saskia Groneberg, bangaloREsident@MOD and Bettina Lockemann, bangaloREsident@IIHS on Saturday May 28, 2016, 7.30 p.m. at the Bhavan.

Saskia has been looking at growth within the urban sphere, starting off from the parks forming the garden city, expanding her observations to construction and situations around newly-constructed areas. Saskia finds beauty in locations the passerby may not consider worth looking at, thus providing an unexpected perspective on the urban jungle.

In her photographic explorations of mobility, Bettina encounters traffic jams, waving motorists, and students solving math problems on BMTC buses. She takes part in the official opening of the tunnel section of Namma Metro, finds paths designed for bicyclists blocked by parked cars, and crosses busy intersections. Her work delves into the atmosphere of transit in Bangalore, providing a view from the outside on situations that the Bangalore audience will be familiar with, from their day-to-day experience.
