Robinson and Crusoe is a story that strikes a chord with all of us – two soldiers from different camps land on a floating roof amidst the ocean, after their planes are shot. While they are grateful to be alive in a situation like this, they realise that they have each other’s company – a situation they don’t know how to deal with!
Wary and intolerant of each other in the beginning, they slowly build a bond, and it is a sad good-bye when they finally leave for their homelands. The play lays bare the futility of war, the loneliness it imposes on the reluctant soldiers, and the triumph of human spirit in the end.
Filled with comedy, energetic action and fantastic stunts of the kind not seen before, the play is a delight to watch while leaving us with a heartwarming message – a message that says friendship is above everything.
Robinson and Crusoe has seen more than 50 shows so far and has won praise from audiences and critics alike. It is directed by Gracias Devaraj, an actor-director from Germany.
